Two SHOs, four police officials suspended for taking bribes

DADU: SHOs of Looni Kot and Nooriabad police stations and four police officials were placed under suspension on Sunday for extorting bribes from motorists and passengers on M-9 Motorway after stopping their vehicles on the pretext of checking.

Hyderabad DIG Syed Pir Mohammad Shah took suspended Looni Kot SHO Sulaiman Lashari, Nooriabad SHO Hashim Brohi, two constables Juman Lanjar, Ghulam Abbas Malah and drivers of the police mobile vans, Mithu Brahmani and Hanif.

“An investigation committee has been formed with SSP Amjad Shaikh as its head to probe the charges against the suspended officials,” said the DIG.

The DIG took action after the passengers who had resisted the police officials’ extortion and held a protest against them.

“When I refused to pay Rs1,000 bribe when Nooriabad police were checking my car, the policemen misbehaved, thrashed me with kicks and fists and snatched my mobile cell and Rs10,000 cash,” said a car owner Wali Jan Baloch during protest.
