Mobile ALAC – Free Legal Advice Camp

Summary : 

Transparency International Pakistan in collaboration with Sudhar Development Organization arranged a free legal advice camp (Mobile ALAC) in district Sahiwal, Punjab with the following objectives:
1. To provide community a safe platform to report their issues confidently.
2. To enhance awareness about the Importance of Accountability and RTI laws

Two free legal advice camps were arranged at 2 different places of Sahiwal. First, at Fareed Town and the second was at Barkat Town, district Sahiwal. Many citizens visited the camps and sought legal advice from Advocate Muhammad Riaz and Ms. saima Batool, CEO Sudhaar Development organization. The experts introduced the working of Transparency International Pakistan and the objectives of the camp. Most of the citizens expressed their frustration with the issues of overpricing, inflation, unemployment and high electricity bills and were advised that such problems were beyond the domain of the Mobile ALAC.

Many females visited the camp to seek information pertaining to the dowry fund were advised to reach out to the Social Welfare Department, Government of Punjab and Punjab Bait-ul-Maal office. Citizens also complained about the lack of the basic facilities clean environment, safe drinking water, poor sewerage system and the misuse of the facilities in government departments. Citizens also complained that the government departments and concerned officials are not proactive in taking interest and solving community issues.
