Mobile ALAC-Free Legal Advice Camp

On March 2nd, 2023, Transparency International Pakistan (TI Pakistan) collaborated with the Youth Development Forum (YDF) to host a free legal advice camp in Matli, District Badin. The camp began at 12:00 PM, and residents from neighboring areas gathered to register their grievances. Mr. Asif Sumro, a social worker, initiated the session and introduced the guests while explaining the objectives of the legal advice camp to the complainants.

Chairman Taluka Matli, Haji Rizwan Ahmed Kaimkhani was invited as the chief guest. He listened to the people problems and promised to resolve them promptly. Advocate Nasir Ahmed Junejo provided free legal advice to the victims and witnesses of corruption and explained the necessity of reporting corruption/mismanagement when it occurs.

Mr. Ashfaque Ahmed, Project Coordinator, TI Pakistan briefed the participants about TI Pakistan working, its operations, and the concept of the Legal Advice Camp, emphasizing the importance of submitting complaints and encouraging people to raise their voice to communicate their concerns and issues to the authorities.

 In total, 37 complaints were registered at Free Legal Advice Camp, including 11 from female complainants. The majority of the complaints pertained to the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), gas shortages, power outages, poor conditions of public hospitals, and lack of infrastructure.

The complainants appreciated the work of TI Pakistan and inquired whether TI Pakistan could resolve payment issues related to sugarcane crops, hoarding, and the price increase of other agricultural products such as wheat and canola. Legal advice was given to all the complainants, and the people expressed their gratitude to TI Pakistan for organizing such an event in their area.
