KPIC, TIP sign MoU to promote open governance

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) and Transparency International-Pakistan (TIP) have joined hands to promote open governance.

The KPIC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International-Pakistan to enhance collaborative efforts aimed at promoting transparency and meritocracy in the conduct of public affairs by governmental entities.

The MoU was signed by Mrs. Farah Hamid Khan, Chief Information Commissioner of KPIC, and Kashif Ali Sheikh, Executive Director of TI-Pakistan, in the presence of other senior officials from both organizations.

According to the MoU, both organisations will work together to raise awareness about the Right to Information (RTI) Act and provide training to public information officers (PIOs) to ensure the efficient dissemination of public information.

A handout issued here said the partnership between KPIC and TI-Pakistan is expected to foster citizen engagement in public affairs and contribute to a more transparent governance system.

Chief Information Commissioner Farah Hamid Khan reiterated the Commission’s commitment to creating an enabling environment and providing all necessary support to achieve the objectives outlined in the MoU.It said the collaboration is meant to make a significant contribution to the promotion of RTI in educational institutions.
