Transparency International Pakistan led the second session of Just Energy Transition (JET Café) on “Climate Finance and Just Energy Transition: Experiences from #COP28 and Potential for #Pakistan” organized by Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) at Climate Action Centre. Mr. Kashif Ali, Executive Director, TI Pakistan spoke about the potential,  regulatory framework and the imperative of mobilizing international and local financing for just energy transition in Pakistan.

He highlighted that Pakistan has considerable potential for using solar energy and wind energy in the coastal belt of Sindh and Balochistan. RE can significantly contribute to Pakistan’s climate change goals, both under mitigation and adaptation and has a real potential to address country’s energy woes. He also gave an overview of climate finance landscape in Pakistan and stressed on the crucial need for investing on renewable energy. Participants hailing from different backgrounds delved into interactive discussion to draft recommendations for government and the private sector.
